A special court yesterday sentenced Jatiya Party (JP-Manju) Chairman Anwar Hossain Manju to 13 years’ rigorous imprisonment (RI) for amassing wealth illegally and concealing information in his wealth statement submitted to the Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC).

The High Court (HC) yesterday granted a four-month ad interim bail to detained BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia and her son Tarique Rahman in the “Zia Orphanage Trust” fund embezzlement case filed by the Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC).

বিএনপির স্থায়ী কমিটির সদস্য সাবেক মন্ত্রী এম শামসুল ইসলাম, সাবেক মন্ত্রী এমকে আনোয়ার ও বিএনপির সিনিয়র যুগ্ম মহাসচিব তারেক রহমানসহ ৮ জনকে জামিন দিয়েছেন হাইকোর্ট। জামিনপ্রাপ্ত অন্যরা হলেন- সাবেক প্রতিমন্ত্রী বরকতউল্লা বুলু, সাবেক উপমন্ত্রী আসাদুল হাবিব দুলু, সাবেক সংসদ সদস্য মশিউর রহমান, শহীদুল ইসলাম মাস্টার ও তারেক রহমানের বন্ধু বিতর্কিত ব্যবসায়ী গিয়াসউদ্দিন আল মামুন। এছাড়া সাবেক মন্ত্রী মির্জা আহবাসের জ্ঞাত আয়বহির্ভূত সম্পদের মামলার কার্যক্রম এবং সাবেক প্রতিমন্ত্রী লুৎফুজ্জামান বাবরের জ্ঞাত আয়বহির্ভূত সম্পদের মামলার কার্যক্রম তিন মাসের জন্য স্থগিত করেছেন হাইকোর্ট।

বড়পুকুরিয়া কয়লাখনি দুর্নীতি মামলায় সাবেক মন্ত্রী এম শামসুল ইসলাম ও এমকে আনোয়ারকে আগাম জামিন দিয়েছেন হাইকোর্ট। একই সঙ্গে মামলাটি কেন অবৈধ ঘোষণা করা হবে না তা জানতে চেয়ে সরকার ও দুদককে কারণ দর্শাতে বলেছেন আদালত। বিচারপতি শরীফউদ্দিন চাকলাদার ও বিচারপতি মোঃ ইমদাদুল হক আজাদের সমন্বয়ে গঠিত হাইকোর্টের একটি ডিভিশন বেঞ্চ সোমবার এ আদেশ দেন। হাইকোর্ট আগাম জামিন মঞ্জুর করে মামলার অভিযোগপত্র দাখিলের আগে এ দু’জনকে গ্রেফতার না করার জন্য সংশ্লিষ্টদের নির্দেশ দিয়েছেন। বিস্তারিত »
